Clinical Research Organizations (CRO), and sponsors (Pharma, Biotech organizations) were dealing with complex and evolving Clinical-study data that was traditionally unstructured, noisy, lacked data cohesion, and with Interoperability issues. Virgil Platform was planned to address the deep need for a collaborative study planning infrastructure that collects, organizes, and analyzes various dimensions of clinical data in a coherent manner.
Vigil (codename) was a part of the Virgil platform that offered a comprehensive view of the integrated data and made the data actionable with Intelligence. The application was created for iOS and Android platforms to take advantage of the hardware features of tablets and lower error rates compared to desktop computers. The Design of the application was done in collaboration with an external design agency.
Accessing operational & clinical data is difficult and effort-intensive.
Making sense of available data requires context.
Existing data platforms are too difficult to use.

We have collected user needs data by interviewing study directors, Site raters, Research operation personnel, Data Managers, and project managers to create user personas for this application

We have defined the Product experience principles to articulate the fundamental goals of the experience. The principles provided a foundation to measure all the decisions to be made.
The application branding guideline for digital interfaces was used to keep brand alignment consistent with the other customer-facing products, the brand guideline was developed with help of an external design agency.

Wireframes helped to define the layout, content placement, layout and navigations before starting the mockups
Color and Style guide for different type of data visualization like graph, charts and maps has been created. Data display was color coded to convey different level and status of the sites or Study.
All of the parts were brought together in the design mockups following the design and experience principles
After designing all the screen mockups, design implementation guideline documents were created and handed over for development. I was closely involved during the development phase and made some design adjustments for better implementation. The design and implementation gained high praise from the client and both parties agreed upon signing design, development, and maintenance contracts for multiple platform products in the future.
